The Roman Catholic archbishop of Chicago and the bishop in charge of the Diocese of Tampa Bay, Florida, have made a friendly wager on the outcome of the Stanley Cup matchup between the Blackhawks and the Lightning.
Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich has promised enough Chicago deep dish pizza to feed 300 people at a homeless shelter in Pinellas, Florida, if the Blackhawks lose. St. Petersburg Bishop Robert Lynch has offered to ship cases of Florida grapefruits to St. Leo’s Residence for Veterans on Chicago’s South Side if the Lightning lose the series.
Cupich says “heaven knows there is no ice in Tampa.” Lynch says “Chicago could use some Florida sunshine.”
Tampa Bay leads the series 2-1. The next game is Wednesday night in Chicago.
