The President of the United States Barack Obama called the Blackhawks front office including coach Joel Quenneville and captain Jonathan Toews to congratulate them on winning the Stanley Cup.
According to the Blackhawks team website:
The President commended their leadership, and the entire team’s efforts on their third championship in six years. The President added that he looks forward to welcoming the team back to the White House to celebrate their victory.
Obama became a Chicago sports fan while he was the Senator of Illinois for seven years, and he cheered for the Blackhawks during their Stanley Cup run.
