Blackhawks lose at home for the first time in 2016

Without rookie Artemi Panarin, who missed Tuesday’s game due to illness, Chicago wasn’t able to get anything going on offense and lost at the United Center for the first time in 2016.

The Blackhawks hadn’t lost a game in Chicago since a 2-1 loss to Carolina on Dec. 27.

Chicago looked like it had taken a lead in the first period against the Sharks when Brandon Mashinter knocked a pucked in off his shin. But after a San Jose challenge, officials ruled that Dennis Rasmussen inferred with goalie Martin Jones and disallowed the goal.

It was the second Blackhawks goal in three games to be waved off following a coach’s challenge.

San Jose took the lead on a power-play goal that appeared to deflect off Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

Looks like this one redirects off of Jonathan Toews and goes in for a Sharks Power Play goal.
