With Lehner out for the foreseeable future, the Hawks recalled goalie Kevin Lankinen from the Rockford IceHogs on an emergency basis. Corey Crawford figures to get the starting nod Sunday against the Red Wings.

The Blackhawks’ roster took another hit this week.

Goalie Robin Lehner, who has been one of the Hawks’ most consistent players this season, is day-to-day with a right knee injury, coach Jeremy Colliton said after Lehner didn’t practice Saturday at Fifth Third Arena.

“We’re still trying to figure out exactly how serious it is,” Colliton said.

Lehner’s injury happened in the third period of the loss to the Canucks on Thursday when his knee twisted unnaturally after he collided with Canucks forward Tanner Pearson. Though Lehner looked like he was in considerable pain and was visited by trainer Mike Gapski, he stayed in.

After the game, Lehner said he was “good,” though his knee was wrapped in ice.

With Lehner out for the foreseeable future, the Hawks recalled goalie Kevin Lankinen from the Rockford IceHogs on an emergency basis. Corey Crawford figures to get the starting nod in place of Lehner, who has started the last four games.

Crawford is ready.

“[I’m approaching it] the same way I approach any game,” he said. “I’ve got some experience, so trying to work as hard as I can in practice and hopefully I have good feelings as soon as I get in the game.”

Crawford, who’s in the last year of his contract, has been inconsistent this season. He’s 6-11-2 with a .905 save percentage and 3.20 goals-against average, his highest since his rookie season. He hasn’t played since he allowed four goals on 20 shots in the Hawks’ 7-1 loss to the Devils on Dec. 23.

“That Jersey one was obviously a rough one,” Crawford said. “I don’t think I’ve been playing bad. Just got to make that extra big save. I’ve had some good starts. I just got to keep going, keep working hard. It’s not going to be easy, so just be prepared.”

The Hawks have dealt with a litany of injuries this season. Brent Seabrook (shoulder and hips surgeries), Calvin de Haan (shoulder surgery) and Andrew Shaw (concussion) are on long-term injured reserve. Brandon Saad is still nursing an ankle injury, and Drake Caggiula, who hasn’t played since Nov. 10 because of a concussion, won’t be available Sunday against the Red Wings, Colliton said.

“It is what it is,” Patrick Kane said. “We’ve done a good job of having some young guys come up and play pretty well for us, and we’ve been playing better lately, too. So obviously it would be nice to have everyone, but that’s just not the reality, especially with the way the game is today. It seems like there’s more injuries [because] the game’s so fast.

“The injuries are piling up, but [it’s] another chance for another guy to step up and prove himself and for us as a team to come together a little bit more and try to hold down the fort.”

In 15 games with the IceHogs this season, Lankinen is 7-7-1 with a .905 save percentage and 3.17 goals-against average.
