The Bulls added a defensive coordinator to Jim Boylen’s coaching staff Monday.

A source confirmed that the team agreed on a three-year deal with Roy Rogers.

Rogers, 45, is known for his defensive schemes and his work with post players. He’ll be coming over from Mike D’Antoni’s Rockets staff.

He also had stints with the Wizards, Nets and Celtics and will be taking over the vacancy left by Pete Myers, who resigned for personal reasons last week.

Rogers is the Bulls’ second new assistant after Chris Fleming, who was hired as the lead assistant last month just days after Boylen was given a three-year extension.

Atop the offseason to-do list for vice president of basketball operations John Paxson was to give Boylen an extension, then surround him with a highly respected staff.

Atop Boylen’s to-do list was defensive improvement, and he was excited about being in charge of his first training camp.

The Bulls were ranked 20th in points allowed, giving up 113.4 per game, and 25th in defensive efficiency in 2018-19.

In exit meetings, Boylen’s message to his players was that toughness and defense will be emphasized.

Rogers should help in those departments. He has worked with accomplished coaches and was a tough customer during his NBA playing days.

“[We will] hopefully establish our foundation at both ends better,’’ Boylen said. “Hopefully, we will reinforce the style of play that we want [during the summer and in training camp]. We want to improve our individual defense and our team defense. That’s a big training-camp point of emphasis. That’s what training camp is, getting in a stance and learning how to play together defensively.’’
