Groupon Inc. launched a mobile app Thursday that lets shoppers receive cash back for buying certain grocery products.

Shoppers submit pictures of their receipts via the Snap by Groupon app (Android, iOS) and can cash out once their balance reaches $20.

“Snap is the latest way that we’re helping people discover new brands and save money on the things they buy every day,” said Sean Smyth, vice president and general manager, Snap by Groupon. “We’re using the power of smartphones to make couponing easier and more convenient while paying people to shop.”

Chicago-based Groupon in June bought Toronto-based SnapSaves, which pitched itself to shoppers as a alternative to clipping coupons.
