SHARE Economic Club of Chicago names its first female chairman of the board

The Economic Club of Chicago has named its first female chairman of the board, according to an announcement Tuesday.

Ilene S. Gordon, chairman, president and CEO of Ingredion Incorporated will head the board of the 88-year-old club for local business leaders.

She has degrees in math and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Gordon runs a Westchester-based company that produces ingredients from corn, tapioca and potatoes.

She could not be reached late Tuesday.

Michael Ferro, the chairman of Wrapports, the Chicago Sun-Times’ parent company, is a director on the club’s board.
