Mike Joy doesn’t look the kind of guy who’s overly concerned about “comfortable” shoes.
He’s 23, beefy and, on Friday, he wore a white hoodie and sported a neat goatee.
“It’s like you’re walking on a pillow,” said Joy, who looked like he could use a pillow for his head.
He and 30 other people stood, sat or slouched outside S V R N, a hipster clothing store in the West Loop, Friday morning — all waiting for the store to open so they could buy a pair of Kanye West’s latest contribution to foot fashion: the Yeezy 350 V2.
Joy, a recent college graduate living in Plainfield, was first in line outside the store at 171 N. Aberdeen St. He’d been there since 6 p.m. Thursday.
“I’m probably going to wear them, but I might sell them,” said Joy, noting that the limited edition shoes retail for about $220, but could fetch twice that much if he resold them.
“The ultimate goal is to get several pairs,” Joy said. “So you can sell those pairs and get a pair for yourself free and, hopefully, have some money in your pocket.”
