DuPage Medical Group launches video visit appointments

It’s not quite a house call, but a west suburban medical group has launched a video visit appointment program for patients with non-urgent conditions, and is believed to be the first to offer the service in the Chicago area.

DuPage Medical Group, based in Downers Grove, now offers video visits for non-urgent conditions, including minor injuries, acne, prescription refills, fever, seasonal allergies,and other non-emergency conditions, according to a statement from the medical group.

“We look forward to connecting with patients when and where they need it most, including from the convenience of their home or office,” DuPage Medical Group President Dr. Paul Merrick said in the statement.

The group is believed to be the first in the area to offer this type of service to patients, according to spokeswoman Alyssa Braden,

Visits are available to primary care patients through the company’s online patient portal and mobile app, MyChart; and can be conducted from anywhere in Illinois. The cost of a video visit is $50.
