Center Alaina Coates time with the Sky has come to an end.

The Sky on Tuesday traded center Coates to the Minnesota Lynx for a 2020 third-round draft pick.

The trade comes less than 24 hours after the Sky acquired power forward/center Jantel Lavender from the Los Angeles Sparks.

“We would like to thank Alaina Coates for her hard work and dedication to our organization,” general manager and coach James Wade said in a statement. “We wish her nothing but the best moving forward.”

Last season, Coates, whom the Sky picked second overall in 2017, averaged 3.4 points and 3.2 rebounds in 32 games. She scored just two points and recorded four rebounds over two preseason games against the Fever last week.

With the move, the Sky’s training camp roster stands at 15 players. Wade has until Thursday to trim it to 12.

Coates won’t have to wait long to face her old team. The Sky are slated to open their season Saturday against the Lynx in Minneapolis.
