Chicago Sky reveal 2020 schedule

After a heartbreaking loss in the second round of the WNBA playoffs last September, the Sky made their intentions for the 2020 season clear.

“We go up,” coach James Wade said. “We gonna kick everybody’s a— next year.”

That statement will be put to the test when the Sky, who unveiled their 2020 schedule on Thursday, kick off their 15th season on May 15 by hosting the Minnesota Lynx.

As formality, the Sky will face each team three times with the exception of the Dream, Fever and Sun, whom they will play four times (twice at home and two times away).

The Sky will get their trio of games against the defending WNBA champion Mystics away early in the season, playing all three games in June.

The Sky’s most grueling stretch this season will come June 27-July 5 when they play five road games in nine days. They’ll visit Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix and Dallas.

There’s a lot of questions remaining about the Sky’s roster for next season as seven of their 12 players are free agents. It’s expected that the Sky will designated Courtney Vandersloot as a core player, which is equivalent to an NFL franchise tag, and re-sign Allie Quigley, two of their three All-Stars. Diamond DeShields and Cheyenne Parker, who played key roles last season, will be back next season.

The Sky also hold the eighth overall pick in the draft in April.
