Candace Parker’s well-documented return to Chicago reached new heights Monday evening when the WNBA champion and two-time league MVP was a guest on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.”

It was a dream come true Parker shared on her Instagram page. The pair opened the interview sharing how much they admire the other in their respective fields.

“It’s not often I get to talk to anybody who is considered the greatest at anything they do,” Noah said to Parker in the opening minute of the show.

Noah, of course, is right.

Parker hasn’t only solidified her legacy on the court with her 2016 WNBA championship, two league MVP titles, two Olympic gold medals and her five All-Star nods. Parker is also developing a legacy off the court as an NBA analyst with TNT. Noah joked with the Sky’s new point-forward asking if she has already begun writing her Hall of Fame speech.

The most important title she wears is though is mom.

Parker had her daughter Lailaa following her rookie season with the Sparks and has said her daughter makes her better in every way. She announced on the show with Noah that she will be starting a podcast this season titled “Moments with Candace Parker.”

Her 12-year-old daughter was a huge inspiration for the show.

“She’s the center of my entire world,” Parker said to Noah. “I had Tia Mowry as a guest. D-Wade and Gabby [Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union] who are amazing parents. I’m just really excited to chat with a lot of different [parents] because I think there’s no blueprint when it comes to raising a child.”

Parker recognized that a lot of people give credit to professional athletes who balance having a career and motherhood, but said there are a lot of women who have it harder.

“There’s a million other women whose jobs don’t let them bring their kids to work,” Parker said. “That don’t let them take off when they are sick, different things like that. I am very happy to have that balance.”

Of course, the pair got into her return to Chicago. Noah asked about Parker’s expectations for the 2021 WNBA season which kicks off for the Sky on Saturday against the Mystics.

“I’m with the challenge,” Parker said. “If you’re not trying to win at the beginning of the season, I don’t know what you’re doing.”
