Earlier today, the Democrat-controlled Senate approved a bill that would avert next week’s looming government shutdown. But the Senate still has to compromise with the House, where the GOP is split on whether to continue using a potential shutdown as leverage for gutting the Affordable Care Act, before any legislation reaches Obama’s desk.
