Good morning. Sprinkles, dreary, high 46….BreakingOrganizing for Action–the spin-off group created out of the Obama presidential campaign–will report later today that first-quarter fund-raising hit just under $4.9 million from 109,582 supporters. The OFA will be opening a headquarters in Chicago.BreakingSecretary of State John Kerry is in South Korea, warning North Korea a missile launch would be a “huge mistake.” [NBC News] Pentagon concludes North Korea has learned how to make a nuclear weapon. [New York Times] BreakingSen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) pushes gun control legislation Friday morning at

Urban Prep Academy, West Campus, 1326 W. 14th St_________________________________________________________________________________Gun debate startsBeating a filibuster threat, the Senate starts a debate over gun-control measures expected to extend through next week and possible beyond. The GOP senators wanting to block all the gun legislation were slapped down in a 68 to 31 vote to let the debate begin. Stats: 16 Republicans and 52 Democrats voted to proceed; 2 Democrats and 29 Republicans opposed at least letting the measures face a vote. [Washington Post] The Illinois Senators, Democrat Durbin and Republican Mark Kirk voted to let gun legislation move ahead. [Sun-Times]The Thursday votes don’t guarantee the gun bills–including expanding background checks and cracking down on fencing and trafficking–will pass. All the Senate said was that these bills deserve a vote. Getting rid of the filibuster only let the gun legislation survive to face more tough hurdles. Whatever the Democratic-run Senate passes and sends to the House will face a massive battle in the chamber controlled by the GOP.Roger Ebert tributeWe’ll miss you. Music, speeches, John and Joan Cusak honored Roger Ebert at a tribute at the Chicago Theater. [Sun-Times] [Crain’s Chicago Business]Clout on the clockFormer Tollway worker caught snoozing apparently has clout. Authorities say Joseph Caffarello wasn’t shy about bragging that his connection to late mob street tax collector Anthony “Jeep” Daddino was protecting him. [Sun-Times] Kelly sworn inKelly takes the oath of office, makes her first remarks from the House floor. [Sun-Times] She now holds one of the safest seats in the entire House, representing a district so heavily Democrat that just a few months ago now disgraced awaiting sentencing former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) won a term without even showing up. Got goat?Rick Telander muses on the goat head delivered to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts at Wrigley Field and the “Billy Goat” curse. (on the Cubs, not the Billy Goat Tavern.) [Sun-Times]  Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking this very seriously. He’s on the case. [Sun-Times] This is a diversion from the on-going renovation negotiations between the city and Ricketts. “Bottom of the 9th in that process,” Emanuel said. [Sun-Times] Did you know…there is a Billy Goat pub in Washington D.C. Not far from the Capitol…Political Business
