Worst city to park your car? Yep, it’s Chicago

SHARE Worst city to park your car? Yep, it’s Chicago

We hate to be the bearer of bad news. In addition to paying some hefty prices for street parking after the City Council negotiated that meter deal in 2009, now Chicago has the honor of being the worst city in America when it comes to parking your car.

Nerd Wallet took a look at parking in cities across the country and ranked them based on parking rates and vehicle theft rates. While our theft rate is significantly better than Oakland, it’s not enough to keep the city from taking the crown as the worst overall.

Take a closer look at the numbers, keeping in mind that a higher weighted average is better. (Rates are in dollars, averages in percentages).

If this has you feeling down, perhaps a trip to Greenville, S.C. will make you feel better. They have the lowest daily parking rate in the nation — $6.
