WASHINGTON — Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker returns home to deliver the May 17 commencement address at Harper College in Palatine.

Pritzker has a relationship with the community college serving the northwest suburbs. She named Harper President Ken Ender to a White House committee working to solve the shortage of skilled workers for the manufacturing industry.

“Our community colleges are a vibrant and valuable part of our nation’s education system and America’s economy as a whole,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. “Locally, they play the critically important role of training our workforce with the skills they need to compete for the jobs of the future. I look forward to speaking at Harper and celebrating the college’s stellar efforts to give their students the tools they need to succeed,” Pritzker said in a statement.
