An important deadline for Illinois voters is a few days away.

Online voter registration for the 2016 general primary will close Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.

The Illinois primary election is March 15.

This is the first presidential election in which 17-year-olds in Illinois can register and vote in the primary if they will be 18 by the general election on Nov. 8.

The online voter application form is available from a link on the Illinois State Board of Elections website.

Online registration is one of several options for anyone not already registered. After Tuesday, in-person registration will be available at early voting sites and on Election Day at the polls. It requires two forms of ID, at least one of which shows a current address.
