As the city, state and country contends with the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, data tells an important story. We’re tracking the numbers that count, including new cases, infection rates and geographic mapping.

Since the outbreak, the state has documented 153,916 cases in all 102 of the state’s counties and 7,187 deaths.
Daily case totals have inched upward since a nearly three-month low of 462 reported on June 22.
The state also announced 738 new COVID-19 cases, bringing its total to 142,461.
The omissions are part of the revised way the state will report COVID-19 cases and deaths at nursing homes; the change was made “to focus on those facilities currently experiencing an outbreak,” an agency spokeswoman said.
