The Cook County medical examiner’s office on Tuesday announced another 42 deaths due to the coronavirus.

That brings the county’s death count to 1,484, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Cook County makes up about 74% of the 1,983 COVID-19 deaths in Illinois. On Monday, state officials announced nearly 2,000 new cases of the coronavirus.
