A teenage boy was arrested Sunday and charged with burglarizing several vehicles in northwest suburban Woodstock.
Police arrested the 16-year-old boy after one of the victims saw him rummaging through a vehicle outside an apartment complex in the 400 block of Leah Lane, police said.
When officers arrived, they saw the teen shutting the door to the vehicle. The glove compartment was open and its contents were scattered throughout the inside of the car.
Several other vehicles on that block and in the 500 block of Leah Lane had also been rummaged through, police said. All had been left unlocked.
The teenager was charged Monday with one count of felony burglary and nine counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, police said. He is being held at the Kane County juvenile detention center in St. Charles.
His name was not released because of his age, officials said.
