A 15-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man were shot and wounded, neither seriously, just before 6 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Prairie Avenue on the South Side.
The boy — shot in the left ankle — ran to a business around the corner in the 200 block of East 47th Street to call for help and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good condition, according to the police, who said the man was shot in the buttocks and declined medical attention.
It was the city’s first confirmed shooting in almost 17 hours, following a spate of gunfire that left two people dead and 12 more wounded from Friday night into Saturday.
