A Carpentersville man accused of putting cocaine into his mouth when police searched his home last year has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Lamelle T. Johnson, 52, agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, the Kane County state’s attorney’s office said.

Johnson was arrested Nov 2, 2018, when police executed a search warrant in his home in the west suburb, the state’s attorney’s office said. He tried hiding from officers and locked himself in his bedroom.
Johnson also tried getting rid of the drugs and was seen “shoving cocaine into his mouth” when officers entered the room, prosecutors said. When police approached him, he threw the cocaine into an officer’s face.
Investigators found about $2,790 worth of cocaine, three digital scales and $8,148 in cash, the state’s attorney’s office said. Johnson previously served a two-year sentence for a 1990 cocaine delivery conviction. He also had several traffic convictions, including a 2012 DUI.
Johnson is eligible for day-for-day sentencing and receives credit for 342 days served in the Kane County jail, where he’s been held since his arrest, the state’s attorney’s office said.
