Officers and paramedics responded to the 5600 block of South Racine Avenue and found a stabbing victim in an empty lot, according to Chicago fire and police officials.

Two men were arguing about 12:30 p.m. when one man left and returned shortly after when an object and then stabbed the other man, police said. They are both 20 years old.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition with a stab wound to his abdomen, police said. His condition had stabilized.

A fire official said two people were stabbed in the incident, but police could not immediately confirm that.
