Man shot, killed in northwest Indiana

A man was found dead with gunshot wounds last week in northwest Indiana.

Authorities were dispatched at 9:23 p.m. Oct. 26 to the 600 block of Grant Street, the Lake County coroner’s office said. There, they found 60-year-old Phillip Hearne with gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m,, the coroner’s office said. An autopsy found he died from his wounds and ruled his death a homicide. The shooting happened in the 3500 block of Pierce Street in Gary.

Gary police did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
