Burglar damages vehicles, steals from garages in Hermosa and Humboldt Park

In each case, someone pried open the side door of garages and damaged vehicles and stole from them, police said.

Chicago police are warning the public about a string of garage burglaries that happened in October in Hermosa and Humboldt Park.

In each case, someone pried open the side door of garages, damaged vehicles and stole from them, Chicago police said in an alert. Bicycles, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, tools and other items were also stolen.

The burglaries happened:

  • About 3:30 a.m. Oct. 14 in the 1700 block of North Karlov Avenue
  • About 3:54 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 1700 block of North Karlov Avenue
  • About 2:35 a.m. Oct. 23 in the 1700 block of North Tripp Avenue
  • About 12 a.m. Oct. 24 in the 1200 block of North Pulaski Road

The suspect in one incident was described as a man 25 to 35-years-old, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-4 and 175 to 180 pounds, police said.
