Teen shot dead on Southeast Side

A 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Tuesday evening on the Southeast Side.

Guerrero Lerma was inside a vehicle about 5:17 p.m. in the 10900 block of Avenue O when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lerma was struck in his back and side, and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He lived in the same neighborhood where he was shot.

No arrests have been made, and Area South detectives are investigating.
