A man was killed Thursday after he was shot while driving in Ashburn on the South Side.

Corbin K. Jones, 21, was driving about 9:50 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Spaulding Avenue when shots rang out from an unknown direction, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was struck in the chest, and he crashed into an electrical pole in the 7900 block of South Sawyer Avenue, authorities said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead. Jones lived in Gresham.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
