A woman was wounded in a shooting Monday in Uptown on the North Side.

The 37-year-old was walking on the sidewalk about 6:50 p.m. in the 4900 block of North Kenmore Avenue when two people approached her and fired shots, Chicago police said.

She was struck in the chest area and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
