Man killed in Chicago Lawn shooting

A man was shot to death Saturday in Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side.

Jose Luis Islas, 41, was on the corner about 2:20 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Fairfield Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots at him, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Islas was struck in the back and abdomen and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The shooter ran off east on 60th Street, police said.

An autopsy released Sunday said he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
