Police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old man found strangled Monday in Austin on the West Side.

Roy Knox was found in a bedroom about 10:45 a.m. in the 5700 block of West Erie Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A witness noticed the man unresponsive and called 911, police said. Paramedics tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The medical examiner’s office on Tuesday ruled the death a homicide by strangulation.
