Man killed, another wounded in South Shore shooting

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Monday in South Shore on the South Side.

They were standing on the sidewalk about 11:23 a.m. in the 2100 block of East 69th Street when more than one person ran up behind them and opened fire, Chicago police said.

Joseph Wright, 23, was hit multiple times to his body and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The other man, 45, was struck in the shoulder and was listed in good condition at the same hospital, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are investigating.
