The driver of a Maserati was arrested Monday after he crashed in the South Loop and beat up a bystander.

Davey Hines, 26, was speeding north in the 1500 block of South Michigan Avenue about 8:50 p.m. when his car struck a taxi, Chicago police said.

He began arguing with a male bystander and beat him, police said. Officers were called and arrested him.

Hines, who lives in Humboldt Park, is charged with a misdemeanor count of battery causing bodily harm, police said.

The bystander was treated at Mercy Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. No injuries were reported in the crash.
