A man was fatally shot Tuesday in Stony Island Park on the South Side.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired at 1:59 p.m. found the 18-year-old Caleb Springfield unresponsive on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of East 86th Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Springfield, of Calumet Heights, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
