Police are investigating a May 17 homicide at a home in Round Lake Beach.

A woman was killed Friday in northwest suburban Round Lake Beach, police said.

Officers were called for gunfire about 4:40 a.m. in the 1500 block of Cherokee Drive and found the woman inside her home, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force said in a release. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the task force would not confirm if she was found with a gunshot wound. He said 48-year-old woman’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Her autopsy results and identity have not been released by the Lake County coroner’s office.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is “currently very active,” the spokesman for the county task force said.
