Man shot, wounded in Chatham robbery

Someone demanded the 30-year-old’s property and shot him in the chest, police said.

A man was shot during a robbery Friday in Chatham on the South Side.

He was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 8000 block of South Perry Avenue when someone drove up in the silver-colored minivan, stepped out and showed a handgun, Chicago police said.

The person demanded the 30-year-old’s property and shot him in the chest, police said. The shooter left with some of the man’s belongings.

Authorities were called at 6:05 p.m. and took him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. His condition was stabilized.

Area South detectives are investigating.
