A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Monday in West Town.

Cortney Lamonte Foy was getting into a vehicle about 1 a.m. in the 100 block of North Hermitage Avenue when someone unleashed gunfire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Foy, who lived in Joliet, was struck in the back and taken by friends to Rush University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

An autopsy he died of a gunshot wound to his torso, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
