A 43-year-old man died, and another was wounded in a shooting Saturday in Chatham on the South Side.

The two men were standing on the sidewalk about 10:10 p.m. in the 400 block of East 77th Street when someone inside a car began firing shots at them, according to Chicago police.

A 31-year-old was struck in the left leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The older man was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at the same hospital, police said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
