Police warn of recent robberies on South Side

Two more Chicago police officers have tested positive for coronavirurs, the department announced March 22, 2020.

The robberies occurred in Bronzeville, Kenwood and Hyde Park.

Police are asking South Side residents to be aware of their surroundings after a string of robberies were reported in May in Bronzeville, Kenwood and Hyde Park.

In each incident, two to four males between 14 and 20 years old approached the victims and beat them before taking their property, Chicago police said.

The robberies occurred:

  • About 5 a.m., May 12 in the 900 block of East 50th Street;
  • About 11 p.m., May 25 in the 5100 block of South Drexel Avenue; and
  • About 2 p.m., May 27 in the 4800 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.

Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8384.
