A person of interest is being questioned after a man was stabbed to death Friday in north suburban Zion.

Police responded to reports of two people fighting about 10 p.m. in an apartment in the 4100 block of Barberry Lane, Zion police said. A caller reported that one of them had a knife.

Officers found 41-year-old La Torrance Finch in the parking lot with a single stab wound to the torso, police and the Lake County coroner’s office said. He was conscious and spoke to the officers.

Finch, who lived in Waukegan, was taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Preliminary autopsy results indicated he died of complications from sharp force trauma, the coroner’s office said. Toxicology testing is pending and his death remains under investigation.
