A teenage boy was critically wounded in a shooting Friday on the Southeast Side.

The 17-year-old was playing basketball at 1:08 p.m. in the 10400 block of South Avenue J when a dark-colored Nissan drove up and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago police.

He was shot in the right arm and the left side of his abdomen and taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
