Woman shot to death at funeral repast in Harvey

A woman was fatally shot at a funeral repast Thursday in south suburban Harvey.

Kierra Jones, 23, was shot in the back in the 15300 block of Center Avenue in Harvey, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jones, who lived in Gresham, was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey at 10:19 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy Friday found she died from the gunshot, and ruled her death a homicide.

A source familiar with the matter said Jones was attending the repast at a motorcycle club near 153rd and Center when someone drove by and fired into the crowd.

The source said the funeral was for a victim of another fatal Harvey shooting about two weeks ago.

Harvey police have not responded to multiple requests for details about either shooting.
