A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Sunday in Marquette Park on the South Side.

They were standing in an alley about 10:06 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Talman Avenue when someone approached and fired shots, Chicago police said.

Eric Thompson, 39, was struck in the back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the same block where he was shot.

An autopsy released Monday found Thompson died of multiple gunshot wounds.

A 43-year-old man was shot in the leg, and was treated at the same hospital, police said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
