A man was fatally wounded by gunfire Friday in West Garfield Park, police said.

Terrance Woods, 30, was walking when multiple males approached him and someone shot him in the back, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. The shooting happened about 10:10 p.m. in the 100 block of North Kilbourn Avenue.

Woods was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said. He was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.

An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled his death a homicide. The medical examiner’s office said he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
