A person was pushed to the ground Monday during an attempted robbery on the University of Chicago campus in Hyde Park on the South Side.

The person was walking about 10 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Ellis Avenue when the would-be robber approached them from behind, pushed them to the ground and attempted to take their cellphone, according to a security alert from University of Chicago police.

The suspect ran eastbound on 57th Street and jumped into a waiting maroon Hyundai Elantra with Missouri license plates, university police said. The victim did not report any injuries.
