A 23-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was shot Tuesday in Gresham on the South Side.

About 9 p.m. she was standing on a corner in the 7500 bock of South Stewart Avenue when a black vehicle drove by and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said.

The woman was shot in the face, back and left leg, police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital. The vehicle fled eastbound on 75th Street.

Area South detectives are investigating.
