Two people are in critical condition after a shooting Monday in Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side.

A witness told police the pair was walking about 3:20 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 61st Street when someone got out of a dark-colored SUV and unleashed gunfire, Chicago police said. The suspects drove off northbound on Kedzie Avenue.

A man, 40, was struck in the head, ankle and leg, police said. A 30-year-old woman was hit in the eye, leg and grazed in the shoulder. Both were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
