A man died Friday after being shot the day before in Austin on the West Side.

Marquise Hines, 21, was standing outside about 1:02 p.m. Thursday in the first block of North Parkside Avenue when someone in a silver sedan fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was pronounced dead about 10:40 a.m. the next day, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy conducted by the medical examiner’s office said he died from complications of a gunshot wound to the head. His death was ruled a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
