A 62-year-old man was killed Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle in Ashburn on the South Side, according to police.

He was struck about 5 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Columbus Avenue by a westbound Dodge Journey, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

The Chicago police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
