A person was arrested after allegedly barricading himself inside a home with a gun Tuesday in southwest suburban Posen.

Police were called about 9 a.m. for reports of a person with a gun, according to a statement from Norridge police.

The caller told authorities he was waiting for a ride at 147th Street and Cleveland Avenue when the suspect approached and mumbled something, police said. He then allegedly tried to punch the caller.

When the victim stood up to defend himself, the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband, police said. He ran away when the victim’s ride pulled up.

The victim got into the vehicle, which followed the suspect, according to police. They watched the suspect enter a home in the 14600 block of Blaine Avenue.

Posen officers, the South Suburban Emergency Response Team and the Cook County Hostage Barricade Team surrounded the house, police and Cook County sheriff’s office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.

Three family members exited the house after police made contact with the suspect using a public address system, police said.

After a short standoff, the suspect came out the back door, sat down on the stairs and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Investigators are executing a search warrant at the home, police said Tuesday afternoon. Charges are expected to be filed later in the day.
