Shots fired on a River North street Saturday ignited a police chase that continued onto the Eisenhower Expressway.

A male fired shots at a group of people about 2:39 a.m. in the 700 block of North Franklin Street, Chicago police said. He fled in a black Impala, and officers followed him onto the Eisenhower Expressway.

The pursuit ended at Jackson and Loomis on the Near West Side, and the suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned in the 2800 block of North Sawyer Avenue in Logan Square, police said.

No injuries were reported, and Area Central detectives are investigating.
